I just stripped an antique hutch for my kitchen. What should i finish it with that will protect the wood and be safe in a food prep area ( it's function doesn't include having food right on the surface) I've alwayse used tongue oil, but am not sure it's protective enough and i try to reserve polyurethane for floors because it really does make things look like their coated in plastic! Is there something more natural looking in between? Thanks Karen.
